The goal of Natural Horsemanship is to create a
relationship between horse and human that allows a very high level of
communication and co-operation. It is a way
of interacting with your horse using the horse’s methods of thinking
and communication. There should be a working partnership between people
and horses.
Concentrated ground work is used to establish a leader-follower
relationship with the horse that can then be continued in ridden work.
Natural Horsemanship refers to a philosophy of horse training that
attempts to utilise more horse friendly methods than some of the
'traditional' training.
The term itself was created by Pat
Parelli, although the methods have been in use for much longer. Other american horsemen with this philosophy are Tom
Dorrance, Ray Hunt
or Monty
Roberts.
